    BSE testing increased

ALBERTA - Alberta’s government testing laboratory reported a tenfold increase in the number of cattle submitted in a single week for bovine spongiform encephalopathy, The Calgary (Alberta) Herald reported. The University of Guelph’s FSNet electronic food safety newsletter cited the article and commented the that increase in BSE testing was attributed, in part, to a new provincial program that pays producers C$150 per usable sample.
